Shaun Young

Shaun Young is no stranger to traditional country and rockabilly fans. As the singer for the now legendary
Texas rockabilly trio High Noon, Shaun has been wowing audiences from coast to coast and all over
Europe and Japan since 1988.

Shaun’s voice soars over country shuffles and rocks through jump tunes with natural effort and strong conviction.
His songs are written the same way- simple, to the point, strong. It’s these traits that make him one of the most
acclaimed artist of his genre.

Born in the Denver, Colorado area, Shaun spent his early years growing up in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains.
It was here that his interest in country and rockabilly was realized.

“My Mom and Dad used to take us for drives in the mountains after church and they would sing Everly Brothers
songs in harmony.”  “Dad loved Buddy Holly and Jack Scott, so I heard their records growing up. They really sent me you
know? Much more than the popular stuff I heard on the radio at the time.” “Mom had a lot of Johnny cash 45’s and a
Ray price LP I wore out listening to. Those were all my earliest influences.”

Shaun played guitar and sang in many local bands during his high school years, but it was after meeting up with High Noon
stand up bassist Kevin Smith that things started to happen.  “Kevin was the first guy I meet that really knew what I was
going for musically. I can’t explain it, we didn’t even know what it was but we knew there was a certain sound,
a feel that we hadn’t quite found.”  “It wasn’t till we moved to Austin that we figured it out a bit. We got
down here and we were blown away by the talent and vitality of the music scene. When we met Sean Mencher
we knew we’d found the right formula.”

High Noon’s successes have been well documented from their acclaimed recordings to appearances at Carnegie Hall.
In recent years, the Trio has slowed their touring and recording to spend time with family and pursue other musical projects.

Since his stints with High Noon and touring with Texas rockabilly legend Ronnie Dawson Shaun has been working with
another well known Texas combo- Billy and Bobby, The Horton Brothers.

Shaun and the Bothers Horton met up in 1995 after Bobby and Billy moved to Austin to seek their musical fortune.
A firm partnership soon emerged with Shaun playing drums for the Horton’s and the Brothers backing Shaun’s
increasing number of solo performances around Central Texas.  “When I met the Horton’s and they started backing
me up I couldn’t believe my luck. After playing with Sean and Kevin, here I am with another great guitar player
and upright bassist laying down a great groove. How lucky can a guy get in one lifetime?”

The combo soon employed the solid backing of drummer Buck Johnson and virtuoso guitarist Dave “Leroy” Biller.

The combination of the two acts makes for an amazing mix of rock and roll, country and rockabilly music all
performed with pinpoint precision and that certain Texas swing. The music is hot and jumping, from deep in the heart
of Texas endearing Shaun Young to the hearts of fans all over the world.
